About the Show

The story of two promises.

When you’re out for a night with the BD, it’s bound to be an adventure. Along the way you’ll likely encounter myths, moonshiners, and mad mojo.

With experiences like these, where deep roots are formed and you never know where the adventure may lead next, it’s bound to lead to deep connections and lots of laughter. That’s the spirit of this show — long-form conversations with the kind of people most podcasts wouldn’t have the patience for.

Veterans who’ve seen things they can’t unsee. Sculptors who left medicine for metal. Loadmasters who fly medevacs in Somalia and write graphic novels at 30,000 feet. Award-winning filmmakers who walked away from Hollywood to tell the stories nobody else would touch.

Having been overseas and out of touch with the USA for the last 14 years, a lot has changed. With your help, BD can better understand a world that was once familiar but is now somewhat foreign, his home… America.

Join us on the journey for the weirdness, wild times, bourbon, and all sorts of other curious shenanigans. This is our story.

If you want to know more about what it’s going to be like, well — we can only make you two promises.

The Pact

The two promises we make.

01

You’ll never be bored.

Every conversation goes somewhere unexpected. We don’t do sponsored small talk or sanitized soundbites — just real people, real stories, and the occasional wild tangent worth chasing.

02

You’ll leave with something.

A new perspective, a hard-won lesson, a name to look up, a book to read, a story you’ll repeat at a dinner party. Two hours later, you’ll still be thinking about something we said.

Host BD
Meet the Host

BD — storyteller, traveler, professional curious bastard.

BD spent fourteen years overseas before circling back to American soil. That long time out gave him an outsider’s eye on his own country — and a deep curiosity about the people building, breaking, and rebuilding it. That curiosity is the show.

He’s the guy who ends up in long conversations with strangers at the end of the bar. The guy who’d rather hear your story than tell his own. The guy with a pour of bourbon, a microphone, and just enough patience to let you get to the good part.

When he’s not recording, he’s reading, riding, and chasing whatever rabbit hole Wikipedia served him at 2am.
